There are three main items to consider when selecting a mower:
1. the amount of acreage to cover,
2. the type of mowing surface, and
3. the type of terrain.
Each of our mower descriptions has 3 scales.These scales
are designed to help you locate which mower is ideally suited
to your needs.
The first scale is Usage in Acres.
This scale has 5 categories ranging from Light Duty
to Continuous Use.
Light
Duty is your normal suburban lawn.
1-3
Acres is a typical rural yard.
3-5
Acres is a rural estate-sized lot.
5+
Acres is a small to large ranch or farm.
Continuous
Use is a commercial grade mower.
The second scale is Mowing
Surface. This scale has 2 categories.
The easiest mowing surface is considered Groomed Turf.
The more difficult mowing surface is Rough Wild Grasses.
Groomed
Turf
is the typical St. Augustine, Bermuda, Zoysia, and other carpet
-type grasses.
Rough
Wild Grasses are

natural grasses.
The third scale is Terrain.
This scale has 4 categories.
Individual yards may be made up of a combination of mowing surfaces
- Flat vs. Hilly. In addition, decide if your
ideal mower will be used solely for mowing or will need to capable
of towing a small cart or attachment.
Level 1
is primarily flat
surface.
Level 2 is
mostly flat with a few hilly areas.
Level 3 is
mostly hilly with some flat areas.
Level 4 is
flat or hilly terrain with towing capability..
